The Boys & Girls Club of the Eastern Panhandle strives to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. We do this by providing quality after school, summer and other programming to keep young people engaged in learning and character development.

The Charles Town Utility Board was created in 1998 by the City of Charles Town City Council upon the issuance of Combined Waterworks and Sewerage System Revenue Bonds under Article 147 of the Codified Ordinances of the City. The Waterworks and Sewerage System of the City was combined into a single undertaking (the “System”). The supervision, management, control and operation of the System is vested in the Charles Town Utility Board (the “Utility Board”).

Food Security and Local Food Access in West Virginia
Community Markets Inc. (“CMI”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Charles Town; WV whose mission is to connect locally grown food to families in need.
In 2 years, Community Markets Inc. has fed over 9,300 people in 10 WV counties with 116,600 lbs. of healthy & locally sourced food and put over $250,000 back into farmers and small family business owners’ pockets.
CMI also has fed 536 underserved students in partnership with the Jefferson County Schools and is currently partnering with the county’s senior center to provide food vouchers to vulnerable seniors.

EPEC’s mission is to protect victims, prevent violence and empower survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and human trafficking.
We accomplish this by providing victims and survivors the resources necessary to effectively cope with the personal, social, emotional and legal ramifications of victimization.

Jefferson County is the easternmost county of West Virginia, bounded by the Potomac River and Maryland on the north; the Blue Ridge Mountains and Loudoun County, Virginia, on the east; Clarke County, Virginia, on the south; and Berkeley County on the west. It occupies 212.4 square miles. Its municipalities include Charles Town, the county seat (established in 1789 by George Washington’s brother, Charles); Ranson (1910); Harpers Ferry (1851); Bolivar (1825); and Shepherdstown (1762). Jefferson County was established from a portion of Berkeley County by the Virginia General Assembly on October 26, 1801. It was named for Thomas Jefferson.

Our Misson
The Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County, WV provides housing and adoption services for abandoned, surrendered, neglected, abused and unwanted dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens until they are adopted, and promotes education about the care of pets to residents in our county and surrounding communities.

Our mission is to protect the health of the public through the provision of public health services including communicable and reportable disease services, community health promotion, environmental health services and threat preparedness. This is accomplished through clinics, educational material, enforcement, disease control, planning, immunization, technical assistance and inspections. Our medical services are available to all persons regardless of race, color, sex, religion, national origin or ability to pay.

OUR MISSION
To prepare and deliver a nutritious meal to the home of anyone in Jefferson County who is homebound or for any reason is unable to prepare at least one balanced meal per day, regardless of his or her age, income, infirmity, race, gender, or neighborhood.
Our clients also benefit from the DAILY HOME VISIT. Not only do the lonely or frail see a friendly face, but the family has the assurance that a contact person will be notified in the case of unusual circumstances, and that a 911 call will be placed whenever a client is found in emergency need. Our service has helped many elderly clients to remain in their own homes and independent for as long as possible.

Often victims of domestic violence suffer in silence. VADV is committed to ending the silence and be a voice against this silent and deadly epidemic.
Through a combination of prevention and intervention programs, we are dedicated to leading change to end domestic violence in our community.

The West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT) is comprised of more than 6,000 men and women who work in the Division of Highways; Division of Motor Vehicles; Division of Public Transit; the Public Port Authority; the Parkways, Economic Development and Tourism Authority (W.V. Turnpike); the State Rail Authority; and the Aeronautics Commission.
Education

Jefferson County Schools are committed to supporting the mental health and well-being of their students. Recognizing the critical role that mental health plays in academic success and overall quality of life, the district has implemented a range of initiatives and resources.

We are a tuition-free public charter school for students in kindergarten through 8th grade. Located on a serene 30-acre, rural campus in Jefferson County, we belong to the acclaimed ACCEL Schools network and provide a college-prep curriculum aligned to state standards. A dedicated faculty promotes a culture of high expectations where students can grow academically as well as socially and emotionally. As a community-centered school, Eastern Panhandle Preparatory Academy builds strong relationships with our families, neighbors, and community organizations.

In 1998, four stay-at-home Moms (Amy Dillow, Kathy Barker, Laura Scherer, Danielle Lineburg) had a dream of having a Christian school available for small children. The goal was to offer an affordable, loving, Christian school in Charles Town, WV.
Wee Disciples began as a “Burning Bush” Ministry of Asbury United Methodist Church in 1998. Reverend Jim Chambly assisted the four founders of the program in establishing the first Wee Disciples’ class.
Wee Disciples Christian Academy is non-profit, incorporated, licensed through DHHR, and is governed by its Board of Directors.

No-cost adult education courses and programming at Jefferson County Adult Learning Center

The Rainbow Montessori School was founded in 1982 as a Children’s House for children aged three to six. Utilizing traditional classroom techniques along with Montessori-based materials and methodology, The Rainbow Montessori School provides a warm, supportive environment where children can feel secure and appreciated. This happy place allows them to freely develop individual strengths and abilities.
Children begin around age 3 and attend for two years. With small class sizes (our teacher student ratio is 7:1 at most) we build strong relationships with each individual to create trust, needed learning, and discovery.

We are located in beautiful Jefferson County, West Virginia, in the heart of historic Charles Town. Asbury’s Little Angels Preschool offers quality faith based early education to our youngest learners. We provide a safe, loving, fun atmosphere where your child can grow as an individual. Our teachers focus on the whole child, as we gently encourage spiritual, intellectual, emotional and physical growth.
